Just after 6am this morning (13 July 2020) residents started reporting power outages in some areas on various groups and platforms.
This is outside of the loadshedding schedule. Since loadshedding should only start at 09h00 and Stilfontein was not scheduled for loadshedding. Community members reported the outage to the Matlosana municipality at around 06h41.
The cause is attributed to cable theft in the area.
Some of the streets affected : Gladstone, Cloete, Neethling, Brink, Buffelsfontein, Pepworth, Athlone, Clubview, Lanyon, Ruth First, and possibly others that was not reported on groups checked.
Cable theft is a big problem and has been plaguing Stilfontein for a while now, very frequently.
